Take it from a yogi - electrolysis is the only way to go for permanent hair removal

"Why Not Laser Instead of that 'Outdated' Electrolysis?"

ELECTROLYSIS 101 - Facts vs. Myths

One of my favorite things to share with people when they ask me about electrolysis vs. laser or any other means of hair removal are the facts.  There are some pretty funny myths out there about the permanent hair removal technique that's been around for more than 125 years.  I always get the questions: "I heard it was terribly painful?" and "Why shouldn't I do laser instead?" Let me tell you all you need to know about this remarkable science and why if you're really interested in permanent results (that's for life, my friends!), you need look no further than electrolysis and your ElectroYogi.

Let me first start by sharing that electrolysis is the only FDA and AMA approved method of permanent hair removal.  All other methods that you probably know about (waxing, depilatories, shaving, and laser) are not permanent.  At best with these methods you will get a reduction in the total amount of hair you have in a particular area - this is the case with laser hair removal. I have seen successful cases of laser hair removal, where there is a good reduction in the overall volume of hair, but each and every hair and the follicle which contains it is never guaranteed to be destroyed. So many of my clients come to me after having poor results from laser, and clients also come to me once they've invested in laser and still need to finish the job. In short, electrolysis is the only hair removal method that will be truly permanent over time.  That means, if I do my job well, you won’t have to see me for very long (like you might your waxing specialist!).  On average, and this is a rough average, if you are diligent about your treatments, you WILL be permanently hair free wherever you want to be in 12-18 months.

When you hear the term 'electrolysis,’ it’s basically a generalization for any of the four therapeutic modes that we could use to permanently remove your unwanted hair.  The good news is, because there are several modalities available to us, we can customize each treatment to any area of the body, and we can find the best possible method available to do permanent destruction to your hair follicles of interest.  When you shave, for example, you’re removing just the shaft of the hair - just the top part that sticks out of the epidermis.  When you tweeze or wax, you’re yanking the hair out of the follicle.  Neither of these methods does any permanent destruction to the follicle itself, which is precisely what we need to do.  The way electrolysis destroys the follicle is by sending a very small electric current into the follicle at its base.  This current, and the heat generated from it, radiates throughout the follicle and loosens the entire hair, all its protective covering, and the very base of the hair that receives nourishment from your hormones and blood flow.  Once the current has done its work, I’m able to easily and comfortably lift your hair from the shaft out of the pore.  Ooila! The hair is gone. But more importantly, if we are working on your hairs in the most active stage of growth, we are also destroying your follicles one by one for good. It will NOT BE POSSIBLE for another hair to regenerate when a follicle has been destroyed and the blood flow has been ceased. It's a perfect mix of machine and (wo)man, because only a human being can truly detect where the base of your hair follicle is in order to do permanent destruction (unlike laser machines).   Every other method of hair removal (other than shaving) encourages growth and re-growth of what for some people is already a big challenge. In the case of laser, this method only targets the pigment generating cells in your skin - not the entirety of the hair follicle, so there is really no way to know for sure that a follicle has been destroyed as a result of the laser radiation. Further, at this point, laser hair removal (while possibly quicker to create a reduction in hair) will simply not work on fair hair and fair skin or dark hair and dark skin.

If you are looking for a method of hair removal that will be permanent over time, that will work on any type of hair (from fine and blonde to thick gray to beard and bikini coarse), electrolysis is your solution and your ElectroYogi sets one of the highest standards for results, comfort and customer satisfaction.

When you come to see me or anyone on my team, I will customize a treatment program for your precise needs. That means, I will analyze your hair in all areas and determine exactly what we need to do for each area, as well as approximately how long it will take to see and destroy all the cycles of hair growth in those parts of the body.

Now for the pain question -- "Isn't it terribly painful?"  The answer in the case of your ElectroYogi is NO.  Over the century and a quarter that electrolysis has been around, the technology has greatly improved... but that doesn't mean that every electrologist has kept up with the times.  I own and operate state of the art equipment that is very comfortable - and I can say that from experience!  Visit the testimonials tab to hear from those other than me who can convince you further.

May you have a healthy and happy day - everyday!
